Coronation Street aired some shocking scenes last night when David Platt was run over – but Daisy Midgeley also found herself being knocked over by the car
Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve seen a new clue that ‘proves’ David Platt dies.
In sad scenes at the end of the ITV soap last night, David’s fate was still in the air after he orchestrated a car crash to try and get Harvey Gaskell off his back. He asked his criminal friend Andy to run him over so they’d both be free of Harvey.
However, in shocking scenes, Daisy Midgeley – played by Charlotte Jordan – also got knocked over by the speeding car. As the final scenes of the episode aired, slow music played over a monologue by David as his family kept vigil by his bedside at the hospital.
Yesterday, Jack P Shepherd appeared on This Morning, where he seemingly confirmed David would die – and last night’s scenes were his final appearance on the soap, but fans are not so convinced.
“I think he thinks it’s the only way. He’s got into a pickle owing money and Max is now in prison. He feels this is the only way to clear all the debt and his family will be better off without him,” he said.

He then added: “25 years, it’s a long time. I think it’s about 25 years next month. It would have been nice to meet that milestone. But sadly tonight’s the end. I’ve loved every minute. I can’t believe we’ve managed to keep it out for so long. I think everybody will enjoy it.” Host Ben Shephard then quizzed soap expert Sharon Marshall on what happens in the episode, with the expert replying that she couldn’t say how it ends and it has been kept under wraps – before adding: “Has he just given us a massive bombshell?”
Puzzled fans rushed to social media, as Jack doubled down on his comments. He said: “It’s all I’ve ever known. I’ve been playing this part now longer than I’ve been playing Jack Shepherd, which is mindblowing really – but I’ve loved my time here.
“Loved the character. It’s a really special episode. We did something similar when Kylie died. I don’t think the audience were expecting that until I came on This Morning until I came on the show and said she dies. I gave that one away as well.”
Fans of the soap are now convinced David does die – after noticing a ‘clue’ in the show.
“They can’t be playing that slow music with a David monologue at the end and NOT kill him off this week. I want him to live obviously but…” one fan wrote, whilst a second added: “I swear if David dies, I’m out!! #Corrie.” A third penned: “If David Platt dies like this there is absolutely no justice in the world and then writers need sacking! David is a national treasure #Corrie.”
