EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer sends message to ‘best friends’ after big British Soap Awards win
EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer has sent a message to her ‘best friends’ after winning a British Soap Award.
The Celebrity Big Brother star departed the BBC soap earlier in the year, leaving alongside her onscreen sister Sonia Fowler, played by Natalie Cassidy.
Fans were left devastated after the siblings, who also joined EastEnders in 1993, drove into the sunset after stealing Sonia’s dad Terry Cant’s tickets to Bali.
Despite having recently moved back to her home in America after working in London for the past year, Patsy returned to the UK for the event held at the Hackney Empire.
Among the show’s eight wins on Saturday night (May 31), including Steve McFadden for Best Dramatic Performance, Patsy took home the award for Best Comedy Performance.
Patsy was voted for by fans ahead of Coronation Street actor and her former Big Brother housemate Jack P Shepherd Emmerdale’s Nicola Wheeler and Hollyoaks’ Nicole Barber-Lane.
In spite of being held captive by Reiss Colwell for several months and suffering from PTSD, Bianca was involved in a number of the soap’s hilarious moments, including many one-liners when Sonia went into labour.
Taking to Instagram after the event, Patsy shared snaps of her, Kat Slater actress Jessie Wallace and Jaime Winstone, who played Peggy Mitchell in a special one-off flashback episode.
She captioned the post: “Fierce friends are the best friends . Friends for yonks. Fiery fun fearless beautiful kind loving lovers and always laughing.
“@jessie.wallace_official @jaimewinstone . Lets keep the joy forever. @dj_fattony_ & @stavrosagapiou wedding . The best full of love & light @aliceandolivia.”
In a separate post, showing off her stunning blue dress, Patsy revealed that her busy day also saw her attending a wedding.
“What a beautiful day yesterday. Went to the best wedding ever! Full of love & glamour @dj_fattony_ & @stavrosagapiou with @jessie.wallace_official @jaimewinstone @richardmerkell @bigbearsbuddy @james_suckling.
“Then went to @britishsoapawards and won an award along with a million awards for @bbceastenders and for best soap!!! Congratulations on winning best single episode where my beautiful friend played Peggy Mitchell and smashed it!
“Thank you to everyone that voted! Lets keep it up, make up @yasminabmkup, hair @thesixmayfair suit @aliceandolivia.”
The 53-year-old moved into a sea-front property in Malibu, California, back in 2014, where she lives with her husband Richard Merkell and their three children.
