Coronation Street star to leave cobbles after betrayal plot twist
The Coronation Street star will soon leave the cobbles as the character is left devastated by a betrayal.
Coronation Street’s Bobby Crawford, played by Jack Carroll, is poised to bid farewell to Weatherfield following a distressing accusation that leaves him reeling.
The young lad confided in Carla Connor about his plans to head off to Majorca for a birthday bash with Simon Barlow.
However, fans know that the holiday is merely a cover for a deeper sorrow – Bobby has quietly cut ties with a dear friend before departing the cobbles.
Bobby was left shattered when Lauren Bolton voiced her suspicion that he had been blackmailing her.
Lauren had been on the receiving end of numerous menacing messages after someone witnessed her nicking and crashing Tracy Barlow’s van. Unbeknown to Bobby, who had kindly given her £500 to help her out, she had suspected him all along, reports Leicestershire Live.
The real blackmailer turned out to be Jake Windass, enabling Lauren to erase the damning photos without parting with a single penny.
Even though Lauren admitted she used the money for a flat deposit rather than as hush money, it was her lack of faith in Bobby that wounded him the most.A heartbroken Bobby couldn’t comprehend why Lauren would ever suspect him of such underhanded behaviour. Overcome by the allegation, he brushed off her apology and made a beeline for the airport, asking Carla for some cash and time off to escape the chaos.
Bobby’s sudden decision to up sticks and flee the Street leaves Carla utterly gobsmacked. Packing his bags for a sun-soaked getaway to Spain, Jack, who shot to fame at the tender age of 14 on Britain’s Got Talent, stepped onto the cobbles of Coronation Street as a series regular in 2023.
Now 26, the comedian made his debut appearance on the beloved soap shortly after the festive season, slipping into the shoes of Bobby – the nephew of Coronation Street stalwart, Carla Connor.
When Bobby first arrived on the scene, ITV hinted that his character would “run rings round Auntie Carla”, a role impeccably portrayed by Alison King.
Thrilled about joining the show, the actor shared his joy, stating he was “delighted and honoured” to be part of the revered Manchester-set drama, which he considers “a cultural institution”.
Born in Bradford, Jack, who lives with cerebral palsy, isn’t new to the spotlight. He previously starred in and headlined Mobility, a BBC Three production focusing on three disabled teenagers taking the same school bus trip every day.
In a conversation with BBC Newsbeat, he voiced his hopes that his involvement in the soap could trigger positive change in how disabilities are represented on TV.
