Coronation Street star Julia Goulding ‘says yes’ in hilarious ‘engagement’ photo away from cobbles
The Shona Platt actress in the ITV soap previously revealed her friendship with Farrel Hegarty, who made her debut this year as Lou Michaelis
Coronation Street star Julia Goulding has jokingly said ‘yes’ to her co-star as they were seen enjoying time away from the cobbles together.
The actress, who is best known for playing Shona Platt in the ITV soap having landed the role in 2016, previously revealed her friendship with Farrel Hegarty, who made her debut in the long-running show back in February as Lou Michaelis.
The actress and social media star was previously announec in the role of the new character, her arrived in Weatherfield alongsid her husband Mick, played by Joe Layton, described as the street’s new ‘nightmare neighbours’ following on from the iconic Battersby clan back in 1997.
After the announcement was made in January, Julia showed her support as she marked Farrel’s birthday belatedly. Sharing a picture of the actress, the Shona Platt star said: “This absolute dreamboat not only had her birthday this week (hbd) but it has finally been announced she’s joining the cobbles as ‘Lou’.”
She added: “I hear she’s quite the mischief maker! Super proud. Love you Faz!”
Later, when Farrel made her debut on-screen, Julia revealed that she headed round to her pal’s house to watch her first scenes with their pals. Alongside a picture of them all together, the soap star wrote on Instagram: “The debut of Lou!”
She then shared a follow-up picture of her and Farrel being credited in the end credits after each other and said: “Welcome to the cobbles @farrelhegarty.”
Corrie fans have since been watching Farrel in action as Lou, as the drama continues to ramp up for the character and her husband Mick, with a special flashback episode to air on Friday (May 16) that uncover the couple’s connection to DC Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts.
Amidst the drama unfolding on-screen, Farrel was able to enjoy some time out and was seen tucking in to some drinks in the sun alongside Julia and their fellow Corrie star, Samia Longchabon (Maria Windass), close to the soap’s set at MediaCity.
Alongside a picture of the trio shared to Samia’s Instagram Story, she simply shared a pink heart. Farrel then shared her own picture of herself and Julia.
The pair cosied up as they shared a chair and covered their eyes with sunglasses while basking in the sun’s rays, with Farrel quipping: “It’s giving… ‘announcing our engagement’ [crying laughing emoji] @julia_goulding.” Julia then reshared the post and laughed: “Yes! A thousand times, yes! [pink hearts and crying laughing face emoji].”
As mentioned, it was recently announced that Corrie will explore the complex history of Kit, revealing the secrets and events that shaped him into the man he is today, which includes unravelling how he is linked to Mick and Lou.
In a special flashback episode airing on Friday, Corrie viewers will be transported back to 2007 to witness the teenage years of Kit, Mick, and Lou and uncover the truth behind their intertwined past.
Secrets will be revealed, and long-buried traumas will resurface, shedding light on Kit’s motivations and the reason behind his complicated relationships.
The episode will feature three actors taking on the younger roles of Kit (Brook Debio), Mick (Lewis Walton), and Lou (Charlotte Alex-Riley), providing a transition between their past and present lives.
Sharing a first-look at the drama that is set to unfold, Farrel previously took to her Instagram Story and said “Oi oi… it’s all about to pop off on @coronationstreet.”
