Coronation Street icons ‘set to return’ to cobbles and Kevin Webster will be speechless
Two iconic Coronation Street characters could be making an anticipated return to Weatherfield, according to soap fans
Coronation Street fans are convinced that two iconic characters are “set to return” to the cobbles, and Kevin Webster will be speechless.
Actor Michael Le Vell has played Kevin on the ITV soap for over 40 years. Kevin joined the show back in 1983 and has been a lifelong car mechanic.
Kevin was originally married to Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor), with whom he has two children – Rosie (Helen Flanagan) and Sophie (Brooke Vincent). He also has two other sons called Jack (Kyran Bowes) and Jake.
The couple later split, with Kevin now married to Abi Franklin (Sally Carman), who also works at the garage.
Soap viewers will know that Kevin was diagnosed with testicular cancer in February after seeking advice over a lump that he’d found.
During Wednesday’s (June 4) episode, Abi was about to share a kiss with Kevin’s estranged brother, Carl (Jonathan Howard), before getting a call from the hospital.
“Kevin’s collapsed at the hospital,” Abi revealed.
At the hospital, Kevin told his wife that it was a “false alarm”, explaining that he had an infection that had made him dizzy.
“I went down like a 14-year-old schoolgirl with Beatlemania… I’ll be as good as new,” he added.
Kevin then urged Abi not to tell anyone else about his collapse as he didn’t want any of his friends to worry.
“Well, you know what people are like. Tyrone will have a field day. Tim, Steve and Ronnie,” he shared.
During tonight’s (June 6) episode, Kevin asked Carl to go full-time at the garage while he recovered at home.
“I’m not back to my fighting strength yet, so I’ll just be part-time,” Kevin explained.
Despite his plans to return to Germany, Carl happily accepted the permanent job, much to Abi’s frustration.
Now, Coronation Street fans are convinced that Rosie and Sophie could return to Weatherfield to support their father through his cancer diagnosis.
Sophie notably left in 2018 to go travelling around Asia, while Rosie accepted an offer to be an assistant on a television game show in Japan the same year.
“I wonder if Rosie and Sophie will come back to see Kevin as he’s so ill,” one person wrote on a Facebook fan page.
Another added: “They just might,” while a third said: “It would be crazy if they didn’t come back to support their dad.”
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, writing: “If they came back it would make it more realistic,” with another similarly sharing: “I love Sophie in the classics, her one liners are great! It would be smashing to see her back.”
