Coronation Street viewers are speculating a DNA revelation for George Shuttleworth, believing they’ve uncovered his secret offspring.
George, portrayed by Tony Maudsley, has been a regular on the soap since his debut in 2020. As the son of the late funeral director Archie (Roy Hudd), he’s become quite popular among viewers.
He’s also been involved in numerous major plotlines, including his romance with Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver). However, it appears there’s trouble brewing for the pair recently.
As viewers may remember, Eileen’s sister Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) returned this year after a decade away, as part of Eileen’s departure storyline.

With Julie being diagnosed with stage four cancer, Eileen’s life priorities have changed, leading her to question her relationship with George. Julie has also suggested that George isn’t ‘the one’ for Eileen and that they should part ways so she can find true happiness, reports Leicestershire Live.
However, Julie tragically passed away during an outing with Eileen this week. In a shocking twist, Eileen was questioned over Julie’s death when it appeared that Julie had taken her own life.
But with Eileen’s departure and potential breakup with George on the horizon, fans are convinced they’ve discovered a surprising new plotline for George.
Fans have been speculating wildly online about a potential twist in the Coronation Street plot involving George Shuttleworth. On a dedicated fan page on Facebook, one viewer speculated: “I wonder what George will do when Eileen leaves? I can’t see him staying unless they give him another storyline.”
Another fan suggested a connection between George and the soap’s villain Mick Michaelis (played by Joe Layton), saying: “I’ve said all along they should have made Mick a relation to George …they both have a very similar look.”
Joining the theory bandwagon, another commented: “His secret long-lost son maybe!” While someone else pondered the possibility of a family tie with another character: “I said the same, a secret son or maybe Paul’s brother.”
Mick Michaelis, portrayed by Joe Layton, has already made an impact since his arrival earlier this year with his wife Lou (Farrel Hegarty), causing quite the stir and even violently confronting Sean Tully (Anthony Cotton) in a recent episode.
