Coronation Street fans have finally been given their first look inside the revamped Platt family home following the horror blaze earlier this year.

As those who follow the ITV soap know, No.8 Coronation Street was destroyed after Max Turner set fire to the property in a failed insurance job.

The teen carried out a botched plan to help his step-dad, David Platt, with his desperate money troubles as they found themselves targeted by gangster Harvey Gaskell.

With David not around, and fearing Lily was in the house, Shona Platt and Max Turner headed inside with Nick Tilsley, who was left rescuing an unconscious Toyah Habeeb, who had been attacked by Abi Webster.

But Shona and Max were quickly left trapped inside the empty house and while Shona managed to escape, with her horrified husband David waiting on the other side, Max was left stuck as the house exploded. He was later pulled from the burning property and was rushed to hospital where he was placed in a coma.

Luckily, the teen has since woken from his coma but he faced Shona’s wrath as she discovered it was Max who set their home alight as he attempted to help David get his hands on the home insurance money in order to pay off Harvey once and for all.

The plan didn’t work and David and Shona planned for Max to do a runner, but he ended up handing himself into the police after his distinctive hoodie that linked him to the fire was found. He was later sentenced to six and a half years behind bars, but was moved to a prison in Scotland due to Harvey’s threats.

Since then, David tried to plot his own death so that his family could have the money from his life insurance. But he wasn’t successful as he recovered from the shock attempt to end his own life, which also saw Daisy Midgeley caught in the crossfire, resulting in her losing her unborn child.

Months on and the Platts are seemingly moving on with their lives and new spoiler pictures for next week have revealed a first look inside the restored property for the first time.

According to the spoilers accompanying the images, Maria Windass will be heard chatting to Shona Platt about the Platt’s barbeque plans, aware that Lou Michaelis is listening. As Maria passes Lou, she warns her to keep her distance.

Later, in the salon, Audrey Roberts cashes up, gives the money to Shona for David to take to the bank. After noticing Shona left her phone, Lou seizes her opportunity to join in. When Lou arrives at No.8, Shona invites her to stay.

But her ulterior motive is clear. Lou spots the envelope of cash in Shona’s bag and whilst Nick Tilsley raises a toast, Lou slips into the house. Toying with stealing the cash, Lou is interrupted by Maria’s arrival and, assuming the worst, demands she empty her pockets.

Suddenly, there’s a loud crash from the living room and Lou is found on the floor with the broken coffee table and Maria standing over her. As Maria off loads to Sarah Platt, the police arrive and tell Maria they’re arresting her on suspicion of ABH.

The pictures of the revamped No.8 have already made it onto social media and are causing comments thanks to an unexpected ‘return’ – of Alf Roberts’ portrait.

The portrait of Audrey’s late husband, played by Bryan Mosley, was previously displayed in the Roberts household, serving as a reminder of the time he was chosen as Mayor of Weatherfield for a one year term in 1973.

@camjmes0 first said: “The renovated Platt’s house omg,” to which @AGH1494 asked: “Is that Alf’s portrait?!” @mikesbaldwins replied: “NOT ALF’S PICTURE STOP IT NOW.” @ShaunInBrum also shared: “This is why Alfie’s painting no longer hangs in the Corrie exhibition, it’s back on set.”

Others, however, aren’t too impressed with the changes to the former property. @sapphicsoulmate commented: “wtf is this change it back (i’m just too attached to the old one).” @CHG3899 posted: “What the flamin eck?” @bensoncarters added: “words can’t explain how much I hate this.”
