Coronation Street fans reckon they’ve sussed out the issue plaguing DS Lisa Swain following a concerning scene in Monday’s episode.
In the recent showing, Lisa was left distraught when her spontaneous marriage proposal seemed to be rejected by partner Carla Connor.
Stepping out into the world for work, Lisa appeared sniffly and touched her nose, prompting a worried Carla to question: “Are you coming down with something?”.
Defiantly, Lisa responded: “No, I’m fine”, yet Carla persisted: “Maybe you should take the day off Lisa!” only for Lisa to insist once more: “I’m fine.”
Flocking to Twitter, now X, Coronation Street followers voiced their anxiety over the sequence, suggesting it might be an ominous sign for Lisa, and possibly indicating a worrying twist, reports Leicestershire Live.
One viewer commented: “Why is little Lisa coughing and spluttering all over the gaff? #Corrie”, another put: “They better not be doing another sickness storyline”, someone else pondered: “Foreshadowing?” whereas a different fan expressed: “Plz say she isn’t coming down with something or gonna get ill. Come on give them a break Corrie.”
Meanwhile, elsewhere on social media another said: “Is Lisa coming down with something she is the only one that hasn’t had a hospital stay” and another post read: “Lisa coughing is not nothing. It’s either super serious (Lisa’s turn to be in hospital) or something simple but enough that Carla will need to take care of her; soup, tea, and a blanket. #Swarla #Corrie.”
While another soap fan speculated: “Why do i get the weird feeling that we see Lisa in a hospital bed soon and Carla with a ring and flowers. The irony will be that she’s doing the exact same thing lisa did. #Corrie #swarla.”
In the following scenes, the beloved pair had an honest conversation during which Carla confessed that she does see a future with Lisa, but expressed concerns about rushing into marriage amidst their current sorrows, particularly following Craig Tinker’s death.

Carla explained: “Look, I do love you, you know, and one day, yeah, I could totally see us getting married. But it’s got to come out of love, not grief.
“So when we’re happy, I’m not saying we’re not happy now, it’s just that when we know what we want then there ain’t nothing gonna keep me from that church or registry office or whatever you want really”, and Lisa responded with her own vision of the perfect setting for their wedding: “Beach in Ibiza!”
