Coronation Street BOMBSHELL! Beloved Legend RETURNS After 22 Years…And You Won’t BELIEVE Who They’re Romancing!
Coronation Street fans have ‘rumbled’ Debbie Webster’s next romance and it’s with a returning soap legend.
Debbie (Sue Devaney) first appeared on the soap way back in 1984, as the sister of Kevin (Michael Le Vell). She ended up leaving a year later, only to make a return in 2019.
And it’s fair to say Debbie has become a firm favourite with fans. However, over on the soap this year, she was diagnosed with vascular dementia.
Debbie underwent tests for dementia after noticing worrying symptoms including forgetting things and making mistakes at work. Things took a scary turn though, when she suffered blackouts – one of which ended in a fall.
Following her shock diagnosis – that she has kept a secret from everyone but her brother Carl (Jonathan Howard), Debbie ended up splitting up from fiance Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).
In Friday’s episode though (June 20), Debbie’s family, including Kevin and Ronnie, found out about Debbie’s diagnosis after she collapsed.
Once she regained consciousness, Kevin and Abi (Sally Carman) insisted on taking her to hospital. However, Debbie explained that she already knows what’s wrong – she has dementia.
Now, with the truth out in the open, some fans think Debbie will reunite with Ronnie. However, other viewers are predicting the return of a former legend to start a romance with Debbie.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: “As much as I like Ronnie I don’t think Debbie should end up with him.” Someone else suggested the soap icon Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy).
“They need to get someone like Curly back!” declared the viewer. Another fan agreed: “Yes to this! They would be great together, I can just picture them now.” A fourth penned: “He’s def overdue a comeback.”
Curly appeared on the cobbles between 1983 and 2003, and was best known for his unlucky-in-love persona and spate of odd jobs before finally finding love with second wife Emma Watts (Angela Lonsdale). He said his goodbyes in 2003 to start a new life with Emma in Newcastle.
