BREAKING: ITV’s Coronation Street Brings Back Iconic Star After 21 Years
Coronation Street’s Richard Hillman could be returning to the cobbles this Christmas, with his ex-wife Gail Platt set to depart after 50 years on the ITV soap
Coronation Street’s Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, could be in for an unpleasant surprise in upcoming episodes.
Fans will say goodbye to Gail this Christmas as Helen Worth is set to leave the popular ITV soap after a remarkable 50-year run. However, her character’s exit seems to be far from peaceful.
As Gail prepares to marry Jesse Chadwick and start anew in France, she remains blissfully unaware of the web of lies and deceit woven by her own family that could potentially spoil her Christmas Day wedding.
In future spoilers, it’s revealed that a tired and upset Gail dozes on the sofa before receiving an unexpected visitor. Will they help her decide what to do?
According to various reports, it’s believed her murderous ex Richard Hillman makes a shocking comeback for the episodes after 21 years, reports Lancs Live.
With actor Brian Capron rumoured to be returning to his role after all these years, what exactly has he been doing away from the ITV soap?
Soap fans will remember that Richard was last seen on the cobbles in 2003, where he met his end in a dramatic stunt while attempting to kill Gail and her family by driving a car into the canal.
Since leaving Weatherfield, actor Brian, 77, has appeared in numerous television roles. The actor joined Where The Heart Is from 2004 to 2006 as Ozias Harding.
Following his stint on the cobbles, he bagged roles in Midsomer Murders, Doctors, Moving On and Staff Room. More recently, Brian has lent his voice to the Doctor Who: The Monthly Adventures podcast series and served as a narrator for Broke. Away from his acting, Brian is married to Jacqueline Bucknell, who he married in 2003.
It comes as actor Brian previously told the Daily Star that he still gets recognised for his iconic Corrie role. He said: “It’s wonderful to still get recognised after all these years. I was at an airport in Majorca and this guy just walks past and says ‘murderer’ under his breath.
“There will be others who will shout across the street or those who are genuinely taken aback when they realise it’s the Street’s serial killer Richard Hillman on their train or in the same restaurant as them. It always makes me laugh.”
