Coronation Street star Andy Whyment was supported as he issued a proud family update. The soap star is renowned for his role as Kirk Sutherland on the Cobbles.

The 44-year-old has played the character in Weatherfield since 2000. He has been a major part of some of long-running soap’s most dramatic storylines as he had a rollercoaster romance with Fiz Brown before he found love with Beth Tinker.

However, he was heartbroken last year when his onscreen wife, Beth, departed the show. Away from the screen, the character’s life is far less turbulent as he enjoys a happy family life with his wife Nichola.

They are the proud parents of two children and Andy shared a special update today. He shared a snap alongside his son, Thomas, alsongside the caption: “”School’s out for @tomwhyment.

He added: “”Really proud of the young man you’ve become son and really looking forward to seeing you move on to the next chapter of your life.”

Andy’s co-stars took to the comments to share messages of support. Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, commented on how tall Andy’s son is as he joked: “He is never ever standing next to me ever again.”

Andy laughed: “I know bro it’s madness how tall he is now.” On a serious note, Alan added: “Well done Tom, top man.” Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe, said: “Wow.”

Andy responded: “I still remember his first day at primary school like it was yesterday Sal.” Sally Dynevor is also the proud mum of two children.

Both her children have followed in her footsteps and are forging successful careers as actors. Phoebe Dynevor is renowned for her role in Bridgerton and Hattie Dynevor is currently starring in Waterloo Road.

Hattie spoke to the ECHO last month in an exclusive interview as she spoke about what is like to be a part of such as a talented family. She said: “We’re all so close and very supportive of each other. I’m really lucky to have them.”

She also told the ECHO about the close bond she has with her mum as Hattie said: “She’s amazing. She is my best friend. We’re very close and she is the best.” Hattie laughed as she revealed people often do a double take will how similar she is to her mum.

She said: “On whether people say she look like her mum, she said: “Yeah they do. And then I laugh and they say, oh you sound just like her as well.”
