Fans have reached out to support Charlie Brooks as the TV star issued a post sharing the “joys of unemployment.” The 43-year-old actress is best known for her role as Janine Butcher in EastEnders, who she portrayed on and off from 1999 until 2022.

Charlie has since gone on to forge a successful career in showbiz, winning the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special in 2011 and taking home the title of Queen of the Jungle in the twelfth series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! one year later in 2012.

Most recently, the soap star was one of the many famous faces who took part in this year’s season of Dancing on Ice. She was partnered with professional skater Eric Bradford and became the firth celebrity to be voted off the ITV show.

Charlie regularly keeps fans updated with her life on Instagram and has taken to the social media platform to share the “joys of unemployment.”

She shared several snaps of her holiday to Ibiza where she made the most of “family time.” She captioned the post: “Joys of unemployment (yes, really). Spending time with my family. I love what I do. I love working. You could say I feel validated by it.

“But having been on the road, filming, singing, dancing, playing for the last few years. It’s really good to stop for a minute. To have time and space.”Fear can be a tricky little b*stard. It whispers about productivity and outcomes and other joy-stealing nonsense. But thank God for some of the brilliant women in my life, (you know who you are), who remind me to live fully NOW.

“To fill my cup up in all areas of life. To trust. I need reminding. Cause I forget. So yeah, this little pocket of unemployment? Kind of loving it… for now. Thanks @tonytrumanibiza for having us x”

Fans rushed to the comments to support the actress after her heartfelt update. One fan said: “I can’t imagine that a woman with your vast array of talent and skills will be unemployed for long. Enjoy your break and family is precious.”

A second kind fan wrote: “Enjoy every second! So well deserved. Just think of all the amazing things you achieved this year already.” A third added: “If I know anything about you from the last 20(?!) years ..You’re resting …truly ..as the world prepares your next great adventure. Exciting things always for you. Enjoy the stillness. Xx.”

Earlier this year, Charlie was voted off Dancing on Ice after a unanimous decision from the judges to keep Anton Ferdinand and his partner Anette.

The actress spoke to hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern after hearing the decision, she said: “I’ve had the most amazing time, the right person went home.

“I’m starting to feel slightly out of my depth and I’ve just loved every second, the coaches, the judges, Karen, Dan, Stephen, all of them back there. And Eric, you’ve been an absolute dream.”

Having been on our screens since 2006, it was announced this year that Dancing on Ice has been cancelled. Holly Willoughby confirmed the news in a post on Instagram as she said: “A huge thank you to @itv, The brilliant team, crew, celebrities and everyone who has been part of our Dancing on Ice family over the last 19 years.”
