However, since leaving Coronation Street, he has switched up careers to become a chef and a cheesemonger.

Early life
Sean was born on 4 April 1965, making him 60 years old. He is originally from Ashton-under-Lyne in Lancashire, England.
Acting career
Sean’s best known role is as Martin Platt in Coronation Street. He joined the cast in 1985, with his character working in a cafe managed by Gail Tilsley, who later became his wife.
Five years later, the pair began dating – with him becoming one of her five husbands. The couple also welcomed their son David together.
Sean left the soap in 2005 as he learned that his character was meant to begin dating an underage girl as part of a storyline, with the actor not wanting to participate in it.
Since then, he has appeared in Waterloo Road, Casualty, Doctors and more. He even took part in Dancing On Ice in 2006 and came in sixth place.
Life since leaving Coronation Street
Sean made a major switch-up after leaving the soap and turned from acting to become a chef. He also became a cheesemaker, running his own business called Saddleworth Cheese Company.
The actor even published a book, named The Great Northern Cookbook, with him later having an accompanying TV series aired on Channel 5 in January 2013.
He made a brief return to Coronation Street for several episodes in 2018. Six years later, it was announced that he would reprise the role as part of his fictional wife Gail Platt’s exit.
Relationships
Sean was previously married to his wife Gaynor. The couple welcomed two children together during their relationship.
He went on to date actress Susie Fenwick, with the pair beginning their romance in 2016.
Sean previously told The Mirror: “Well I have met somebody new actually. We’ve only been seeing each other for a short amount of time but I am very happy. I feel good at the moment”.
However, it was confirmed in 2024 that they split up.
