Coronation Street fans ‘crying’ at young star’s reaction during British Soap Awards 2025
ITV's soaps didn't fare well at the annual event held in London
Coronation Street fans were left ‘crying’ at a young star’s reaction during the British Soap Awards 2025.
Viewers had to wait five days to see the event play out, which was held at Hackney Empire in London on Saturday night (May 31).
While many managed to avoid spoilers, it was widely known that EastEnders had a night to remember.
Winning eight awards in its 40th anniversary year, the BBC series won Best Soap as well as accolades for Steve McFadden and Lacey Turner.
Coronation Street had a night to forget, with David Neilson, café owner Roy Cropper, outstanding achievement award the soap’s only win on the night.
However, one moment that viewers noticed on Thursday night (June 5), may be worth more than any award.
There was awards’ joy for a family, who have three children in both of ITV’s major soaps, Emmerdale and Corrie.
Amelia Flanagan, 16, joined Emmerdale in 2014 and instantly became a hit among viewers in the role of April Windsor.
Her younger twin siblings Isabella and William play cousins Hope Stape and Joseph Brown in Corrie.
Amelia won Best Young Performer at the event, with the daughter of police officer Donna Windsor and chef Marlon Dingle a fan favourite character.
Once Amelia was declared the winner, William leapt out of his seat and began joyfully clapping and cheering for his older sister.
Those watching the Soap Awards at home rushed to X, previously known as Twitter, to have their say on the heartwarming moment.
