Coronation Street star confirms icon’s return 26 years after debut and fans will be thrilled
A Coronation Street legend back filming on the cobbles and fans will be over the moon
Coronation Street’s Tanisha Gorey has revealed a legend is back filming on the soap.
Tanisha plays Asha Alan on the ITV soap, taking on the role back in 2009. And as the daughter of Dev (Jimmi Harkishin), Asha has become a firm-favourite with fans.
She’s also been involved in several big storylines too. From body image struggles to training to become a pracademic, her time in Weatherfield has not been short of drama.
Especially at the moment, as last month, she did all she could to save Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) after he was brutally attacked by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton). Unfortunately, Craig later died, leaving the Weatherfield community devastated.
Asha is a firm favourite on the soap
And now, Asha actress Tanisha has shared that her on-screen father Jimmi Harkishin is back filming after the actor took a break from the soap.
As fans will recall, Jimmi’s character Dev left the cobbles in February, following a family emergency. He headed off to India after his auntie Gita suffered a nasty fall.
In real life, Jimmi went travelling abroad, but he is now back at work. Speaking to Digital Spy, his soap daughter Tanisha said: “Yes, Jimmi’s back after his long-awaited return. He’s seen the world, doing everything that we all want to do! But he’s back now.”
She added: “He’s back filming and he’s back busy. It’s really good to have him back. He is really like a father to me and it’s so nice to see his face around the building again.”
What’s more, Tanisha also teased that her character is getting a huge new storyline this summer. She told the publication that there is “a lot” coming up for Asha.
Confirming it’s an issue-based storyline, Tanisha said it is “heavily involved with her job”. She explained: “We know that she’s a student paramedic. The facts of [this issue] are a little bit scary.
“It’s sad that it happens and it’s true. I think it’s very real to life and very prominent in that field and in that workplace. But it’s great to be trusted with it. It’ll be amazing to play.”
