In the realm of soap operas, it’s a well-known trope that unless a character’s death is conclusively depicted on-screen, there’s always room for a dramatic return. EastEnders has seen its fair share of such resurrections, with Leslie Grantham reprising his role as Den Watts and Gillian Taylforth returning as Kathy Beale.

Despite the fact that viewers never saw his character Mick Carter’s supposed watery end, Danny Dyer has quashed any speculation about a comeback. He said: “Look, I take it as a compliment that people want me to go back. Who knows? If there’s no closure there, then maybe I would come back for a dream sequence. I don’t think Mick could just rock up covered in seaweed!”.

Danny has been batting away suggestions of a return to EastEnders for a while now, yet he’s openly appreciative of what the show has done for him, telling Closer magazine: “It saved my b****y career,” and humorously conceding, “I’d be f***ed without it.”

He made his debut as Mick Carter in Albert Square in 2013, having previously turned down another role in 2009. He had boldly stated in his 2010 autobiography Straight Up that he wouldn’t consider joining the cast until he was “fat, bald and fifty.”

With three years still to go before he hits the big five-oh, the door remains open for Dyer to potentially fulfil his own prophecy. Meanwhile, fans can look forward to seeing him soon in the upcoming second season of Jilly Cooper’s Rivals, reports OK!.
