Coronation Street fans ‘can’t believe’ star is a twin after ‘baffling’ family snap
Coronation Street star Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan Wilson in the ITV soap, wowed fans when he walked the red carpet at the British Soap Awards.
Coronation Street fanss were forced to do a double-take when Liam McCheyne strutted down the red carpet with his twin, causing quite the stir years after they both appeared on the hit ITV soap. The actor, known for portraying youngster Dylan Wilson, the offspring of Sean Tully and Violet Wilson, has seen limited screen time lately due to Dylan’s storyline involving a stint in the Secure Training Centre (STC).
Liam made a triumphant return to Weatherfield’s famous cobbles in 2020, reprising his role as Dylan a decade after initially landing the part, and then popped back into viewers’ living rooms again in 2022. In an endearing switchback to 2011, Liam first graced our screens with twin brother Connor by his side as Dylan. Although Dylan has stuck with acting, his brother Connor has pursued sports.
Connor, however, revisited the glitz of soapland chic at the recent British Soap Awards alongside his brother during the event, which took place at London’s Hackney Empire which is set to grace television screens on ITV come Thursday (June 5).
Liam hopped onto Instagram post-gala with a snap showing the dapper duo sporting sharp black suits with bow ties, captioning the moment: “Soap awards 2025!”
Comments buzzed with affection, particularly from his co-star Tina O’Brien, who portrays Sarah Platt. The starlet lavished praise, typing: “Both of you gorgeous inside and out,” alongside love heart eyes and red heart emojis. Responding with a warmhearted comment, Liam penned: “Likewise,” with a red heart emoji.
Harriet Bibby, who stars as Summer Spellman in Corrie, complimented: “Scrub up so well you two!” while Mason Radcliffe’s Luca Toolan joked: “Scrub up decent tbf u two idiots.” (sic)
Corrie fans leapt at the chance to comment, with many still astounded by Liam’s twin surprises as one exclaimed: “I’m seeing double!!” and another quipped: “I bet even members of your own family can’t tell which one is which.”
A third admitted to struggling and questioned: “Which is which? You’re too alike,” as one shocked viewer added: “Can’t believe I’ve only just found out you’re a twin! Crazy looking at you both I only can just tell you apart with the nose.”
This comes ahead of some exciting developments for Liam’s character, Dylan, in the upcoming episodes. A worried Sean Tully (played by Antony Cotton) cautions Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) that Dylan is due back from the STC tomorrow, and he doesn’t want any trouble from her son Brody (Ryan Mulvey), who was in the same facility as Dylan at the STC.
With Sean’s plans to celebrate Dylan’s release, Brody walks into the café. Sean assures Dylan that he’ll keep him safe, but Dylan warns him that it’s Brody who needs to be careful, however, fans will need to stay tuned as tensions could rise between the two.
