Jane McDonald admits she ‘flirted outrageously’ with Coronation Street star

Jane McDonald has opened up about this year's British Soap Awards, with the TV presenter admitting she 'flirted outrageously' with one Coronation Street star at the event

Jane McDonald has cheekily divulged her recent encounter with a well-known Coronation Street actor post-British Soap Awards celebration.

Having resumed her role as host for the annual soiree, the awards were held on 31 May and are scheduled to be broadcast on ITV1 come Thursday, 5 June.

Joining ITV’s Lorraine this Monday (2 June), Jane offered some juicy details about the ceremony, which unfurled at Hackney Town Hall in London.

The cherished television star admitted to unabashedly “flirting outrageously” with a particular Corrie hunk, confessing she was quite “starstruck” by his charm.

“I was a bit starstruck and flirted outrageously. I did with Kit Green and even asked him if he bought handcuffs, but he didn’t answer me,” Jane enthused. “He’s just beautiful, and it’s funny because he’s quite a villain in Corrie.”

Kit, embodied by actor Jacob Roberts, made his mark on the ITV soap having joined its cast in 2024. Devotees of soap operas might also recognise him as Damon Kinsella from Hollyoaks on Channel 4.

Furthermore, Jane expressed her admiration for Emmerdale’s Jeff Hordley, who is renowned for his role as Cain Dingle, reports Leicestershire Live.

“Then you’ve got Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle), who is the nicest man. The nicest people you could ever wish to meet. So all the villains usually are the most lovely people,” she mentioned during her chat with stand-in host Ranvir Singh.

In addition, Jane discussed EastEnders’ triumphs at the British Soap Awards, where the BBC One drama won six accolades that Saturday.

She expressed regret that Steve McFadden, known for his portrayal of Phil Mitchell, couldn’t make it to receive his accolades for Best Dramatic Performance and Best Single Episode, honoured for Phil’s intense psychosis flashback episode.

Jane remarked: “It was a real shame that he (Steve McFadden) wasn’t there, but Adam (Ian Beale) did a great job of helping everybody… It was just the best atmosphere ever!”.

EastEnders triumphed as Best British Soap at the awards, with Lacey Turner bagging the Best Leading Performer trophy, Navin Chowdhry clinching the title of Best Villain, while Patsy Palmer received the nod for Best Comedy Performance.

Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter scooped up Best On-screen Partnership, and the much-anticipated return of Angie Watts was crowned Scene of the Year.
