Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch turns awkward as Danny Dyer fails to show up for appearance
Channel 4's Sunday Brunch was missing a key star during this weekend's episode as Danny Dyer failed to show up to the show, leaving the presenters struggling to keep the show on the road
Chaos ensued on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch when Danny Dyer was a no-show at the beginning of the programme.
The popular weekend show, hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer, had a lineup of guests on Sunday, May 25, including Christian Cooke, singer Louise, Alex Horne, Georgia Tennant, Patrick Grant, and a musical performance from cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason.
However, Danny Dyer, the former EastEnders star expected to join at the start of the 10am show, was conspicuously absent, leaving the hosts to inform viewers that he was “on his way”.
Tim disclosed that the actor was tied up with filming for the second series of his 80s drama, Rivals. Despite his absence, Danny’s anticipated appearance sparked reactions from viewers tuning in from home.
Fans took to social media platform X to express their thoughts, with one quipping about Danny’s reputation for colourful language: “What are they waiting for someone to fit in the bleep machine before letting Danny Dyer on?” reports Devon Live.
Another amused fan speculated: “#DannyDyer is on his way from filming? Danny Dyer spent Saturday night out with the crew and they are still trying to wake him up.”
A third viewer, puzzled by the situation, queried: “Is Danny Dyer stuck in the toilet or something?”
While presenters Tim and Simon tried to keep the show rolling, Danny was still missing from the set an hour into the broadcast but he eventually turned up after his Rivals commitments.
At 47, Danny recently made news again as it was announced that his series Rivals would be returning for a second season after a well-received debut.
The much-loved Disney+ series is set for a dazzling return, expanding to an exhilarating twelve-episode second season. The show welcomes back David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, and Danny thrilling fans with their stellar performances.
Nestled in the Cotswolds and immersed in the shimmering spectacle of 1980’s British TV, the upcoming season teases more laughs, love, and surprises.
Adapted from Dame Jilly Cooper’s wildly popular novel Rivals, this award-nominated show is set to charm viewers once more with its star-studded cast that has already captured hearts and critical acclaim, securing a BAFTA nomination this year.
The creator and executive producer, Dame Jilly Cooper enthused: “I’m utterly sex-static filming for the second season is upon us.”
Reflecting on past success, she added, “It was magical working with Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season and seeing everyone fall head over heels for my beloved characters.”
