Coronation Street’s Kit Green attacked and Mick Michaelis beaten as he pleads innocence in Craig Tinker aftermath
Kit's past has been unravelling before ITV viewers' eyes and the aftermath of Craig's attack will unfold next week
Kit Green is set to be attacked in upcoming scenes as the suspicions that he has a son continue in Coronation Street next week.
Not much has been known about the detective sergeant since his arrival in Weatherfield in May last year, other than the fact that he’s the long-lost biological son of Bernie Winter.
It was then earlier this year that new couple Mick and Lou Michaelis arrived on the cobbles, and it was teased that they have a link to Kit that would reveal his past once and for all.
And it was in recent scenes that the truth emerged. Through a series of flashback to 2007 intertwined with present day, we discovered that Mick and Kit were good friends as youngsters, with them getting up to plenty of mischief, as teens do.
However, things escalated dramatically when a shopkeeper made derogatory comments about Mick’s troubled family background. While he was willing to let it go, Kit was more emotional about the shopkeeper’s remarks and suggested that they should make a revenge plan.
With Mick’s help, he lit fireworks and pushed them through the letterbox of the store – unaware that there was someone inside. Kit was horrified when he suddenly heard screaming coming from inside, with the shopkeeper’s wife was trapped.
When the shopkeeper arrived, he was quick to blame Mick, giving Kit the opportunity to do a runner, leaving his pal to take the rap and face prison time after the victim suffered third-degree burns.
But when tempers between the pair, in the present day, unfolded on the street, DS Lisa Swain was able to step in. While Kit denied there being any deeper issues with Mick, Lisa didn’t appear convinced.
Things then got even more complicated, it transpired that Lou had cheated on Mick while he was in prison – with Kit. Back in present day, Kit wandered into Speed Daal and spotted the Lou and Mick enjoying a celebratory meal with Brody, who had just been released from the STC.
But he was stopped in his tracks, having overheard that Brody was 16, and he began to put the pieces together about his time spent with Lou, leading him to believe he could be Brody’s biological father and not Mick.
New spoilers for next week have now revealed that Brody is tense as he listens to a message from his dad, Mick, who has just been seen by viewers brutally attacking Craig and leaving him for dead. Kit returns home to find Brody smashing up his flat, revealing he’s spoken to his dad who assures him he’s innocent and it’s a police stitch-up.
Kit calmly spells out to Brody that the evidence suggests otherwise and Mick is a violent man. But Brody sees red and charges at Kit, sending him crashing into the wall. As Sarah Platt and Bernie Winter arrive, Brody races out, a hoodie covering his face. As they dash inside what state will they find Kit in?
Later, DS Lisa Swain tells Kit that Bernie’s provided Brody with an alibi. A fuming Kit collars Bernie and points out he now has two options; either tell Lisa that he was mistaken or charge her with perverting the course of justice.
When Bernie reminds Kit that Brody is family, Kit is forced to admit to Sarah that he slept with Brody’s mum, Lou Michaelis and suspects Brody’s his son. How will she react?
Kit tells Brody he’s willing to withdraw the burglary charge if in return he stays out of trouble as he wouldn’t want him to turn out like Mick. Will Brody agree? In his prison cell, Mick lies on the floor, having suffered a beating. Brody confronts Bernie wanting to know why she stuck her neck out for him and gave him an alibi. Will Bernie reveal all?
Meanwhile, Maria Windass tells Lou she’s fired. Having stormed out, Lou tells Gary that she’s sorry Mick gave him a beating, but she’s had plenty herself over the years. Gary can’t help but feel sorry for her and buys her a drink. How will Maria react?
Later, tells Sarah that it’s Mick’s hearing today and he’s confident he’ll plead guilty. Lou visits Mick and is shocked at his injuries. Mick reveals that Kit organised the attack and spelt out that if he doesn’t plead guilty the next beating will be worse.
Lou returns from the hearing and tells Brody that his dad pleaded not guilty. Brody’s delighted, but Lou hasn’t the heart to tell him there will be a price to pay.
