EastEnders teases exit for icon after 40 years as violent secret is finally exposed
EastEnders' Kathy Beale is left in a tricky situation next week, as Cindy Williams returns to the Square and reveals that it was Kathy who attacked her on Christmas Day
EastEnders is gearing up for a week of high drama as Cindy Beale, portrayed by Michelle Collins, makes a sensational return to the Square on Monday (5th May), revealing Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) as her violent assailant.
As regular viewers of the BBC soap will recall, Cindy departed Walford in February after surviving the Queen Vic explosion, leaving hints of a lethal revenge plot in her wake.
On the fateful night of the pub incident, which resulted in the deaths of Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), Cindy uncovered that Kathy was the unknown individual who assaulted her on Christmas Day, leaving her for dead.
Just hours following this revelation, Kathy rescued Cindy, who was trapped in the pub. However, Cindy is set to return to the Square with plans to unveil Kathy’s secret.
The week commences with an engagement party for Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law), who are also expecting their second child, reports Plymouth Live.
While the Beales and Knights are celebrating at Harry’s Barn, Lauren finds herself needing a break in the office after a distasteful comment from Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).
Kathy steps in to help before Lauren agrees to rejoin her party, but the atmosphere takes a hit once again when Cindy makes her entrance.
Peter tries to calm the situation, but Lauren departs and presents him with a choice – it’s either her or his mother Cindy.
Cindy finds herself ostracised by her family, and in a fit of spite, she spills the beans about Kathy hitting her with a shovel.
She later storms over to No. 29A to confront Lauren, but is taken aback when she discovers Lauren in the throes of labour.
With the ambulance delayed, Cindy takes control of the situation and rushes Lauren to the hospital, leaving Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) to break the news to Peter.
Meanwhile, Kathy finds comfort with her new flame Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman), but their intimate moment is interrupted by his girlfriend, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).
Kathy quickly concocts an excuse, and fortunately, Jean is too distracted worrying about dementia patient Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) to notice the pair getting cosy.
Later on, Harvey invites Kathy on a caravan holiday, but their plans hit a snag when Jean stumbles upon the brochure and the Slaters mistakenly believe the holiday is intended for them.
Will Kathy be able to wriggle out of the fallout from Cindy’s revelation? Or are her days in the Square coming to an end?
