“BREAKING: Julia Goulding Breaks Silence on Her Character’s ‘Sad’ Future”

Coronation Street's Julia Goulding has been a fixture on the ITV soap since 2016 and has been at the centre of some of the show's biggest storylines in recent years

Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Ramsey, has become a fan favourite on Coronation Street since her arrival back in 2016.

Her character was introduced under dramatic circumstances as the estranged mother of Clayton Hibbs, who murdered Kylie Platt. Shona had been struggling after failing to keep her troubled son away from his abusive father, Dane Hibbs.

After entering into a relationship with the evil Nathan Curtis, Shona called things off when realising his true intentions and it left her homeless, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Shona’s initial storyline revolved around her efforts to rebuild her life, which took an unexpected turn when she bumped into Kylie’s widower, David Platt, during a night out unaware of their link or each other’s pasts.

The duo fell in love but their pasts were soon revealed with devastating consequences. However, after managing to overcome these hurdles, the duo rekindled and later married in 2019.

The couple remains together on the show but upcoming scenes will see their marriage seriously tested when David lies to his wife.

In scenes this week, David was shocked when he received a call from Clayton in prison and even deleted all emails from Weatherfield prison from Shona’s laptop.

However, next week will see David visit Clayton in prison yet things don’t go as planned when Shona learns from the police that Clayton has been hospitalised.

Talking to press recently about the storyline, actress Julia said: “When Shona finds out her husband has been gaslighting her and had a part in Clayton trying to take his own life, I dread to think what she’s going to do but I don’t think she’ll take it lying down!

“There’s going to be a lot of anger and pain, a possibility they could destroy each other. Trudging through treacle is probably a good analogy. There’s a lot of change already for David, his mum is leaving, the house might get sold, stress with the stolen money which Shona doesn’t know about yet, it’s like living in a washing machine!

“The sad thing is they’ve been so solid for so long Shona is David’s final crutch. But he’s destroyed it himself in my opinion.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on both ITV and ITV X.
